Contrasts. One of the great things about Bonneville is the variety of vehicles you see competing there. We weren’t the smallest but this V16 truck was probably the biggest. The team behind it were aiming to better 230mph. The massive V16 diesel displaces 121ci per cylinder (that’s over twice our Mini’s total engine size), 1931ci total, and is supplemented by 34psi of boost from twin Garret turbos the size of medieval dinner plates. Horsepower production is a nonchalant 4,000 at 3,000 rpm and the car produces 1,000 lb-ft of torque off idle at only 500 rpm!
