Driver instructions.

Slow cars like us generally use tracks 1 and 2 at Bonneville – they’re the 3 and 5 mile tracks. To the right of track one and the left of track 2 are the return roads that you turn off to at the end of your run.
In between the two tracks is where the fire marshals hang out, so if something goes wrong you turn in there, the track gets shut down, and they race to help. As a result, it’s a bad idea to accidentally forget which track you’re on and turn the wrong way at the end of your run, so we would put a little note on the steering wheel for Nelson Hartley to help him remember which way to turn if all was ok.
The H20 note was a reminder to turn the water pump on to help cool the oil cooler. More on that later.
